Legislative Priorities

A primary function of the Republican Party of Texas is to recruit and elect candidates that embrace the principles articulated by the Republican Party of Texas Platform and to enact those principles legislatively. On March 6, 2009, the Republican Party of Texas adopted a resolution supporting, as top priorities, the passage and enactment into law of the following: Informed Consent For Abortion (SB of 182/HB 36), Voter ID (SB 362/HB 125), Property Tax Relief (HFR 38 and SB 700/HB 1575), Margins Tax Cut (HB 1825), Eliminate Taxpayer-Funded Lobbying (HB2268), Regulating Provision Of Benefits To Illegal Immigrants And Ending "Sanctuary City" Policies (HB 266 and HB 404), State Sovereignty (HCR 50), and Eminent Domain Reform (HB 402/HB 1483).
