Voter ID Bill

Recently the Senate passed Senate Resolution 14. This resolution provides an exception to the Texas Senate rule which requires 21 out of 31 Senators to agree to bring a bill up for debate. This exception is very narrow and only applies to voter identification bills. With the passage of S.R. 14 only 16 Senators need to agree to bring up a bill on voter identification requirements. With the passage of this resolution it appears there is a very good chance to pass a voter identification bill this session.
